Are people in Kyrgyzstan friendly?

People in Kyrgyzstan are friendly and hospitable.

Are there any academic exchange programs for students?

Yes, there are. There are academic exchange programs every year. Our university cooperates with more than 70 partner universities from 18 different countries.

Student exchange program is an opportunity to study for a semester or one-year non-degree training at one of the partner universities.

Can I change my major?

Yes, you can change your major, but you might have to take more classes for your new major.

Can I live in a flat or should I live in the dormitory?

First year students should live in a dormitory. After the first year, a student makes choice between a dormitory and apartment.

Can I study just for one or two semesters?

Yes, you can.

Do I have to buy books for classes? How much do they cost?

No, you don’t have to buy books. You can take the books from the library.

Does IAAU participate in the ERASMUS program?

Yes, our University is involved in the pan-European program for cooperation in educational area. Within the ERASMUS program there is an exchange of students and teachers between institutions of higher education in Europe, where our university is a competent partner. Our students have a great opportunity to be trained under this program, all the costs of which are covered by the European Union and host country. 

How can I check on my admission status?

Please send an email to the Admissions Department. The Admissions Department will inform you about your admission status.

How can I pay the application fee?

You can make a payment to the IAAU account.  (iaau account number)

How can I transfer credits from another university to IAAU?

You can transfer credits from another university by submitting official transcripts.

How do I get from the airport to my accommodation?

The team members from the Office of International Affairs will arrange the transportation from the airport to the accommodations

How long does it take to get an admission decision?

It depends on official procedure, but usually it takes about 2 weeks.

How many years do I have to study to get a Bachelor’s degree?

It takes four academic years to get a Bachelor’s degree.

How much is the tuition fee at IAAU?

Tuition fee for the academic year of 2016-2017 is $2700.

How to reach to Bishkek?

There are many airlines with flights to Bishkek. Please check the Manas International Airport website to find the flights to Bishkek.

Is accommodation provided for nonresident students?

IAAU assists to find an accommodation for nonresident and international students.

What is the admission deadline?

The deadline is 10th of August 2016.

What is the average class size?

Usually there are about 15-20 students in a class.

What is the cost of living in Bishkek?

Usually it is around $300 a month.

What is the language of instruction at the university?

The language of instruction is English. There also some classes in Russian and Turkish.

What is the weather like in Kyrgyzstan?

Kyrgyzstan has a continental climate. You can enjoy all of the four seasons in Kyrgyzstan: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

What kind of facilities are there for students?

With wide range of social facilities such as dance and concert halls, football fields, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, dining hall and canteens, also a beautiful garden, IAAU is not only the institution for learning but also the vibrant center of social life.

What language is spoken in Kyrgyzstan?

Kyrgyz and Russian languages are spoken in Kyrgyzstan. Since the language of instruction at IAAU is English, most people at the university can speak English.

What transportation can I use to reach the university?

There are many buses which go to IAAU. The following buses can be used to reach the university: 7, 29, 102, 105, 128, 137, 147, 154, 166, 258, and 262.

When does the semester start?

The Fall semester begins on September 1st.

Where is Kyrgyzstan?

Kyrgyzstan is located in Central Asia. Kyrgyzstan borders with Kazakhstan in the north, Uzbekistan is the west, Tajikistan in the south west and China in the east. 

Which extracurricular activities are there?

There are many sport and cultural activities at the university. Students can enjoy playing such sports as football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and other sports. Also there are many cultural events for students such concerts and theatrical performances.
