Internationalization workshop by American Councils

On March 24-25, 2023, representatives of the Ala-Too International University Gulaida Kaiypova, Head of the preparatory department, Edil Konogaliev, Director of the International office, Aikerim Sagynbekova, Head of the Management department of the Distance Learning Center took part in the UniCEN program organized by the American Councils.

UniCEN is a partnership program of Central Asian universities on internationalization. The seminar brought together 40 representatives of universities from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The seminars were led by a Fellow at Institute of International Education (IIE)’s Center on International Partnerships, professor Susan Buck Sutton and Tiffany MacQuarrie, Professor in Charge of Experiential Digital Global Engagement (EDGE) at the Pennsylvania State University. 

Professor Tiffany McQuarrie presented various aspects of internationalization: student and academic mobility, transfer of credit systems, development of international educational offices, expansion of recruitment of foreign students and teachers, and also provided information about the higher education system in the USA.

American Councils shared practical tips on how to start explanatory work and continue communication with representatives of US universities, and also provided templates to ensure effective communication with American colleagues.
